Stage Coach Rides
Get the feel of the old west by touring the ranch in our Whistling Elk Adventures stage coach with Percheron team of horses! Our coach can accommodate up to 6 people at a time. Advance reservations are required.

Fly Fishing
Whistling Elk Ranch has five private fishing ponds ranging from three to five acres, providing the perfect opportunity for those wishing to use their belly-boats. Ponds are actively managed, providing fly fishermen with the opportunity to catch trophy trout in a private and remote setting with a backdrop of breathtaking Colorado scenery. Rainbow, brown, brook and cut-bow trout flourish in the Whistling Elk ponds.

For the more experienced fisherman, you may fish the ponds on your own; or you may make arrangements through the Rocky Mountain Angling Club for private lessons and guides

Please Note: Only "catch and release" fly fishing is allowed at Whistling Elk Ranch.

Nature Viewing
Herds of elk, moose, coyotes, birds and more wander through the ranch and the surrounding area.

Horseback Riding
The countless trails make horseback riding one of the best ways to enjoy the Whistling Elk Ranch. We have seven trail horses, varying in size and age; we keep our guest numbers small, so you can design your own horseback ride in length and difficulty. Remember to bring blue jeans and boots for the ride.

Horse Boarding
If you own a horse, by all means, bring it. We have corrals to board your horse, and hay is included in the boarding fee. We do ask you to bring proof of current vaccinations within the last 12 months (tetanus, influenza, encephalitis, rhino and west nile virus). In addition, horse owners are required to sign a liability agreement pertaining to their horse(s).

Hay Rides
Friends and family will enjoy a relaxing tour of the Ranch with a hay ride. The wagon is pulled by our amazing team of Percheron horses. We can accommodate up to 20 guests at a time. This is a great activity for family fun or a team building activity. Advance reservations are required.

Hunting
The ranch borders the National Forest where many elk migrate out of Rocky Mountain National Park into the National Forest. Although, we do not hunt the ranch or provide guide hunts, the ranch offers great accommodations and access to the national forest.

Hunting licenses issued through the state of Colorado are required; see wildlife.state.co.us for information on hunting licenses. In addition, Whistling Elk Adventures, LLC has strict rules pertaining to hunters; call (970) 723-3284 for information regarding the hunting policy.

Cross Country Skiing & Snowshoeing
Remote and far from the crowds, Whistling Elk Ranch touts over 18 miles of groomed trails for your enjoyment. Our trails offer fantastic cross-country skiing, regardless of your experience level. Backcountry enthusiasts enjoy Whistling Elk's location, only 20 miles from Cameron Pass (elevation 10,267 feet) and 10 miles from Willow Creek Pass.

Sledding
Our sledding hills make sledding a must do if you visit the Whistling Elk in the winter. Try sledding on easy, intermediate or difficult hills. Bring your own sleds or borrow ours.

Sleigh Rides
A cozy sleigh ride is the perfect romantic gesture. Our sleigh will accommodate 2 adults and is pulled by our beautiful team of horses. Ride through our ranch as the winter season turns into a 'winter wonderland'. Advance reservations are required.
